PENTAX I recently returned to photography after a long (over ten years) hiatus. I've used a Pentax K-1000 (actually, two of them, but that's another story) for years. Recently I got the bug again, and added a Pentax ZX-5 to the stable. While trying to figure out all the things that have changed with the technology, I discovered I wanted some features the ZX-5 didn't give me, so I bought a Pentax LX. At Christmas, my dad gave me an old Argus rangefinder (A4?) and flash, but I haven't even really looked at it yet. It, combined with an old Kodak 126 Instamatic, are what got me started in photography, lo' these many moons ago.
lens I have always been primarily an "inanimates" photographer. That is a lot like a "landscape" photographer, but maybe a little broader. I do a lot of landscapes, play around with motor sports and flower macro photography, and even go for the occasional "artsy" shot. When I shoot people, it's generally for some specific event, like a reunion.
body Ansel Adams is one of my role models, and I like B&W in some ways more than color. I feel like I have more control over the composition and the rendering in B&W than I have in color. Or maybe I just understand and can visualize the parameters better, since there are (marginally) fewer of them. ;-)  I have a roll of slide film in the bag, but it's the first roll of slide film I've ever bought.
I've put together a small Depth-of-Field Calculator applet using IBM's Visual Age for Java. Unfortunately, I'm having some problems getting it to run after exporting it from Visual Age.  When I get that fixed, I'll make the calculator generally available here.
All of my camera bodies, and much of the ancilliary gear, is made by  Pentax . I've been using their stuff for over twenty years, and haven't had an equipment failure yet. And they're about the only SLR maker who has kept the lens mounts compatible from the first bayonet mount to the lastest auto-focus mount.
